Map Library and AI Map Backgrounds
Reusable locations and generated floor art without grid lines
Session maps evaporated when the night ended. Campaign DMs re-drew the tavern every month. This release introduces map templates — persistent locations you design once, reuse across campaigns, clone into live sessions, and share with the community.
My Locations
Build maps in the location editor: grid size, description, tokens as placeholders, terrain notes. Save as a template tied to your account. Free tier includes five templates and three AI background generations per month; Party tier raises limits and adds export; Guild tier expands further for clubs running multiple tables.
When you create or edit a campaign, pick a default map template. Starting a session clones that template into the session battle map so tonight's fog state does not corrupt your master template.
Community locations
Publish templates to the community browser with visibility controls. Others can clone your tavern into their library — cloning copies structure, not your private campaign notes. Ratings and moderation follow the same patterns as one-shots.
AI map backgrounds
Generate seamless top-down floor art from a text prompt — stone cellar, forest clearing, ship deck. Prompts explicitly exclude grid lines and chessboard patterns because the Konva canvas draws the tactical grid at 70% opacity over the artwork. Regenerate after clearing a cached image if you want a new seed.
Generation uses WaveSpeed FLUX models configured in admin model settings. Without API keys, upload a background image URL manually.
Export
Party tier and above can export map templates as PNG for use in Roll20 or printed mats. Export includes background and token positions where applicable.
AI backgrounds are ambiance, not battlemap cartography. Verify scale with your grid before assuming a doorway is one square wide.
Map library and AI backgrounds are live. Subscription tiers Party and Guild expand limits — details in our billing update.
